The Full Story

About

My Cousin's was founded in 2021 by David Gallo.  David grew up in Yorktown Heights and started his restaurant career washing dishes.  He eventually became a cook before making his way to the front of the house, waiting tables, bartending, managing, and eventually ownership.    My Cousin's is his second restaurant venture.  David helped open The Chophouse Grille in Mahopac in 2012, and eventually sold his share in 2015.  After David left the Chophouse, he was introduced to fine dining working for Lidia & Joe Bastianich in Manhattan, at the world-renowned Del Posto waiting tables.  It was here David gained a better appreciation for the artistry and scientific precision of running a Michelin star restaurant.  While David plans on bringing that level of detail and professionalism to My Cousin's, the atmosphere will be more laid back and comfortable.

My Cousin, Jay

We celebrate Jason G. Shenkman.

My Cousin’s will exemplify what Jay brought to hospitality and life -  he was kind, warm, welcoming, and just excited to be there.  Jay made every person feel like the most important person in the world.

 

My Cousin’s will do the same.  It will be a place to fill your stomach and raise your spirits, a place where people can come and be comfortable and have a good time. 

 

David had the honor and privilege of being considered "cousins" with Jay growing up, and later spending years with Jay behind the bar.   They had dreamed of opening My Cousin’s'together one day, so David is doing this in Jay's memory.
